Headhunting in the parliamentary monarchy Canada has many advantages, especially for multinational and English-speaking companies, as the country is considered to be particularly stable politically, socially and economically in contrast to the USA or Great Britain.

Canada is a constitutional monarchy within the so-called "Commonwealth of Nations". In the Democracy Index 2019, Canada ranks 8th out of 167 countries, ahead of Germany, France and Switzerland. Canada is one of the freest societies in the world – in the United Nations Human Development Index 2016, Canada ranks 10th. According to a 2017 study by Bank Credit Suisse, the country has the world's eighth-largest total of national wealth, ahead of Switzerland, Sweden and Austria. However, both income and wealth are far more evenly distributed in Canada than in the neighbouring USA.

In terms of population, Canada has one of the highest immigration rates in the world. Immigration is managed in terms of fixed targets and happens in programmes. The immigration criteria are publicly available and can be checked before an application is made. For people in sought-after professions, there is even a special migration program called the "Skilled Worker" programme.

The share of the primary economic sector is above average – the mining of nickel covers about 20% of the world's demand and after Venezuela and Saudi Arabia, Canada has the third-largest oil reserves (as of 2017). Also, the country has 10 % of the world's forests, which is the basis for the pulp and paper industry. Furthermore, Canada is also one of the largest suppliers of agricultural products due to its high production surpluses – the focus is mainly on wheat, whose global production volume ranks eighth behind France.

In the centres of industry, on the other hand, the automotive and aviation industries play an important role, as well as the metal and food processing industries and even the high-tech sector. However, the services sector is the most important, accounting for 66 % (2008) of gross domestic product (GDP). Seven of Canada's ten largest companies are active in the banking and insurance sectors.

Canada ranks fifth in world foreign trade statistics after the EU, the USA, Japan and China. As a G7 country, Canada is a member of numerous economic policy organisations, such as the OECD, the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
