Headhunting in the United Mexican States could be interesting for those businesses that seek indirect access to the US-American market. Because Mexican exports depend to a very great extent on the USA, accounting for 80%.
Mexico’s economy has been heavily deregulated and privatised since the 1990s - the proportion of private companies has been growing constantly. In 2016, for example, Mexico’s national economy already attained 15th position in the global rankings and so is accorded second place in Latin America, after Brazil. In the Global Competitiveness Index Mexico outperforms countries such as Croatia and India, taking 51st place out of 137 countries (as of 2017-2018).
However, Mexico has big problems of corruption - in the Corruption Perception Index of 2016 the country only reached 123rd place out of 176 countries. Crime also presents huge challenges for Mexico - in 2015 alone, 26,599 people were killed in the country.
Nevertheless, the Mexican economy has considerable potential at its disposal, with a progressive industrialisation, a favourable demography (55% of the population are under 30 years of age), increasing prosperity and its close proximity to the US market. Worthy of special mention are the export of electronics, machinery, cars and car parts, semi-finished parts, electrotechnology and foodstuffs, which procured for the country a growth of 2% in 2017, for example.
