Income and salary deductions overview in Eastern Europe

— Press release —

How do Singles’ salaries differ across the Eastern European Area? According to the figures in 2020 (Source: www.eurostat.eu) that show the net earnings of childless single people in EU calculated from gross earnings by deducting the employee’s social security contributions and income taxes, average wages vary in East Europe from one country to another, with 14.047.91 EUR at one end of the scale and 6.385.89 EUR at the other. In East European countries the average gross salary is 14.383 thousand euros a year with the average deductions amounting to 28%.

Gross earnings are the highest in Slovenia at €20.424 followed by Estonia, at €16.637 and by Lithuania, at €16.426. The lowest wages are considered to be in Bulgaria at €8.230, followed by Latvia, at €12.913 and by Slovakia, at €13.200.
Whereas Romania shows the biggest deductions in 2020, Estonia shows the lowest gross-net difference in income.

However, it should be considered that the salaries of highly qualified professionals and managers in Eastern Europe are by far higher compared to the average ones in this region. They seem to be very close to those in Western Europe.
