Headhunting in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is particularly suitable for the service and financial sectors. Due to its favourable tax framework and geographical proximity to Germany, France, Belgium and the Netherlands, Luxembourg is highly attractive for international companies. As the seat of several European Union authorities, the country is also important as an international administrative centre.

One of the main pillars of Luxembourg's financial centre is funds. With more than EUR 2 trillion in assets under management, Luxembourg is the largest funds location in Europe and ranks second in the world behind the USA. As a tax haven, however, Luxembourg is regularly listed in the top 10 of the shadow finance index of the Tax Justice Network – in 2011, Luxembourg even ranked third behind the Cayman Islands and Switzerland.

According to a study by the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat), the average income is 2.5 times higher than the income of an average European. The purchasing power standard of a Luxembourger is 253 % of the EU average and, apart from the principalities of Liechtenstein and Monaco, the gross domestic product (GDP) per capita is the highest in the world. In the Global Competitiveness Index, which measures the competitiveness of a country, Luxembourg ranks 19th out of 137 countries (as of 2017). In the Index for Economic Freedom, the country ranks 14th out of 180 countries in 2017.

In addition to the high level of human development, however, Luxembourg also has a highly developed understanding of democracy. The form of government of a parliamentary monarchy ranks 12th out of 167 countries in the 2019 Democracy Index, meaning that Luxembourg is classified as a "complete democracy".

Luxembourg is particularly interesting for German entrepreneurs, as, in addition to “Mosel-Franconian” Luxembourgish and French, High German is also spoken as a native language. According to a survey by the European Union (2005), as many as 73 % of the population say they use German as their mother tongue.
